I’ve heard about Audible.com for years. I’ve even used it to “read” a few books. In the past, I would buy one book at a time, finish it, and forget about the app (maybe even deleting it entirely).
When I was given the opportunity to represent Audible as an advertising partner, I thought I should look into it a little more before jumping in. I only promote things I really believe in, and believe will benefit you.
Enter Mary Pope Osborne…
The first time a mom recommended the “Magic Treehouse” series for my girls, I took it with a grain of salt because her youngest was closer in age to me than to my children. As more and more parents with kids of all ages recommend them, the series stayed in the forefront of my mind when shopping.
We like to start series’ with book 1 though, and really get to know the characters properly. Book 1 of this particular series is about Dinosaurs. While my girls aren’t only about the princesses and girly stuff, none of us are huge dinosaur fans – including (and perhaps especially) my son. While I wouldn’t have ignored the entire series on this alone, I admit that between my daughters’ and my own presumptions, other series were chosen over Magic Treehouse again and again.
We don’t regret any of the series we’ve started. In fact, we all wait with bated breath to find out what happens to The Never Girls from book to book. But goodness, we should have started Mary Pope Osborne’s series sooner!
This summer, I downloaded the first collection of books (#1-#8) with just one credit on Audible. That, my friends, is an incredible deal since a set of books 1-4 is $13 on Amazon right now. In just 4 days, my kids and I have listened to books 1-12, and it’s still the first thing they ask for when we get in the car.
They still bicker some, sure – but like 5% of what they used to . We’re driving to Hilton Head this weekend, and I’m almost not dreading it đ
As our wishlist on Audible grew, I knew that it was absolutely an appropriate recommendation for this community. Here’s a snippet of what’s on our list:
CHILDREN’S BOOKS:
PURSUING A LIFE OF DELIGHT:
Creating Magic: 10 Common Sense Leadership Strategies from a life at Disney
The Disneyland Story: The Unofficial Guide to the Evolution of Walt’s Dream
… and these are a few titles that I found while perusing on my phone. If I actually took time and dug through the 180,000+Â titles offered, I’m pretty sure I would have enough reading material to last a lifetime. Thankfully you can listen while doing laundry, driving, cooking, running, etc.
Where has Audible.com been my whole life?! Oh, right there. I was just ignoring it. đ
This post contains affiliate links. I was not required (or even asked) to write this post; however, if you sign up for a free trial (no obligation and you can keep your first book!) I’ll get a small reward. Truly though, use the links or not – I’m a huge fan of audible.com and I know you will be, too!

I’ve been an Audible subscriber for years and it’s worth pointing out that, unlike some subscription services, your books are yours forever even if you stop your subscription. I have stopped mine at various times when life has kept me from listening and I built up a backlog of credits or books. Audible is a life saver if you spend any time in the car (and with today’s traffic, who doesn’t)
