I received two passes to an early screening of this film. I was not required to write a review. All opinions are my own.
We got to see an early screening of Avengers: Age of Ultron this week, and I believe the only words I could say about it for hours after were, “So. much. cool.”
It turns out some people didn’t love it. I mean, it turns out that NONE of the critics liked it, and half of their commenters agree. They’re wrong. 🙂
In all seriousness, my husband and I thought it was outstanding. The cast was, as you may expect, phenomenal. All good in their own right, the chemistry of the ensemble was better than I remember it being in the first film. And though Tony Stark was the first to strike with funny quip (obviously), the whole theater literally laughed out loud at each of them throughout.
I’m admittedly new to the Stan Lee universe (Marvel Cinematic Universe plus the quadrillion other things he’s done with Marvel over the past however many decades) but I loved seeing tie-ins to Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and all of the other franchise films. The character development was fantastic; I loved watching them not only grow closer to one another, but share bits of their backstories along the way.
As our team of heroes battled Ultron, Quick Silver, and the Scarlet Witch, I was legitimately anxious. I mean, sure, it’s a movie – I could have assumed all would turn out well. It was intense, though! A review on wired.com nailed it when they said that it went quickly and that if it were longer, you might actually be able to catch your breath.
There are complaints about the plot being too much; I thought it was quite good. And honestly? The weaponry and one-liners would be enough for me to want to see it again. And I really do.
So, normal people of this part of the internet – if you saw it, what did you think? I’m truly curious what people I know thought!
