We have loved Anna Dewdney’s Llama Llama… books since my daughters were in preschool. We started with Llama’s red pajamas and read about how sweet Llama Llama had a hard time going to sleep. It was something we related to all too well at the time. Since then we have learned to share, made shopping more fun, had sick days, and dealt with holiday drama.
This year, we get to meet Llama Llama’s grandparents!
Llama Llama, big big day! It’s a first – a special stay. Pack up clothes and pj’s tight – Llama’s going overnight.
He has a great time, but eventually realizes something awful – he’s forgotten Fuzzy Llama. What will he do?!
Llama Llama Gram and Grandpa is written in the simple, endearing rhythm we’ve come to love from Dewdney. The illustrations are adorable. The message is one that will be comforting to lots of young children who get anxious away from home.
We have given Llama Llama books as gifts, donated them to classrooms, etc and this one is not any different. I recommend it wholeheartedly!
Don’t forget — Penguin Young Readers is giving away dozens of books during their “12 Days of Picture Books” sweepstakes, including at least 9 (NINE!) copies of Llama Llama Gram and Grandpa! To get in on the fun, head on over to their Facebook page. Even if you don’t enter on a particular day or don’t win, there are lots of great stories being shared on their page this month!
If you’re looking for the perfect gift for a book lover on your list, check out the Penguin Holiday Gift Guide! Browse titles by age, cover, related interests and more. I’ll admit, I just spent way too long scrolling through the page looking at the variety of titles. The guide includes everything from children’s picture books through young adult titles, and even stories I know many adults have benefited from reading.
