Welcome to this month’s Blogorail Black Loop. Today we are sharing gift ideas for Mother’s Day, beginning with these unique Mother’s Day gifts for Disney fans!
Who says Mother’s Day gifts have to be expensive and fancy to show special someone you care? Here are some awesome gift ideas for the woman in your life that prove you know what she likes – and that you love having her around!
I’ve enjoyed this time each year, when I have had the chance to scour the internet and the ends of the earth for you, my friends, to find things to put on my wish list that may be perfect for the mom in your life who loves all things Disney. If you’re looking for items for the home, apparel, food items, etc, be sure to check out last year’s gift guide for Disney-loving mamas!
Unique Mother’s Day Gifts for Disney Fans
Unique Disney Music
With soundtracks from motion pictures, music from the Disney parks and music from every genre imaginable, there is almost certainly something that appeals to the woman on your list.
Some of my favorites, that you may not have immediately thought of:
The Circle Sessions – Disney favorites in a relaxing jazz style, as heard in Carthay Circle in Disney’s California Adventure
Tom Ameen’s Magical Moments, Magical Moments 2, Dreams Come True, and the parks-centric album, Pianos and Pixie Dust
The Disney Songbook by Jim Brickman – It appears I have sort of a “dinner hour” thing going on here, but there’s a reason for that. As a writer, or someone who works in an office, or someone who just needs a bubble bath now and then, there’s something to be said for a calmer version of our favorites. We love park music as much as – or probably more than – the rest, but sometimes the mood isn’t right for the Festival of Fantasy soundtrack.
Rhythm of the Pride Lands – I had this album as part of a 2-disc set when the Lion King soundtrack came out, and nearly wore it out then. I hadn’t listened to it in over a decade, but rediscovered it when looking for great, lesser-known Disney music a few years ago. It definitely appeals to this Animal Kingdom fan!
Julie Andrews Selects her Favorite Disney Songs – Mary Poppins sings your favorites? No explanation needed. 😉
Disney Fantasia: Music Evolved – Though of course the music in Walt Disney’s Fantasia (and Fantasia 2000) are not original to the soundtracks, for many of us those songs immediately bring up visions of dancing hippos and Noah’s Ark. This album has the music from the film, as well as some variations and additional tracks.
Disney Movies for the super-fan
Of course there are no shortage of Disney movies from the past several decades that would make a great gift, but these are some of the oft-overlooked titles that I would love to receive as a gift (if I don’t already own them.)
Saving Mr. Banks is an excellent, moving look at the relationship between Mary Poppins and the Disney studios – but it’s also more than that. It’s really a touching story for anyone, about life and about family.
Waking Sleeping Beauty (currently available on Netflix, actually, but a great gift idea when it isn’t – or for someone without access to the streaming service) is a really intriguing look at “The Disney Renaissance”. Disney historian Don Hahn hosts, and looks at how Walt Disney Animation broke out of a rut in the 1980s and 90s.
The Boys: The Sherman Brothers’ Story is one of those movies that sheds some light on things that maybe you’d rather leave dark. It chronicles much of the Sherman Brothers’ musical success, but also personal heartache and family trouble. Overall I think this one is a great film, but it’s not for the person who only wants to hear about the Pixie-dusted side of the Disney company.
Books Disney-loving Mamas Love
Poster Art of the Disney Parks is one of the most beautiful books I own. I fell in love with this the instant I saw it in the parks years ago, and it was a gift I received that I still pull off the shelf.
And the latest addition to my collection, Maps of the Disney Parks: Charting 60 Years from California to Shanghai
Quotable Walt Disney – Another book option for anyone on your list. Walt is famous for his words, stories and inspiration, and this little gift book is full of quotes about all sorts of subjects – making it a great choice for the Disney superfan as well as fans of leadership books, quotes about life, and so much more.
Cookbooks – From simple and family-friendly to gourmet recipes and Disney Destinations “copycat”recipes, there are dozens of fun Disney-themed cookbooks for the mom on your list who loves cooking and/or baking!
Other Disney Gifts and Accessories for Mother’s Day
Jewelry – If you want a Mother’s Day gift that is a little more traditional, there is still plenty to choose from that reminds her of your love for her… and her love for the Mouse! I love this heart bead or this black crystal Mickey bead. You can find some really unique things in unexpected places too, like department stores and on Etsy.
Disney purse or wallet – Whether the mother in your life wants a bag that broadcasts her love for Disney or something more subtle… something large or small… there are lots of great options in a number of price ranges.
Don’t forget that with Amazon Prime (affiliate link) you can get 2-day free shipping on tens of thousands of items! Between that, free Kindle titles, and free streaming television and movies with Amazon Instant Video we think it’s a very worthwhile investment each year.
Is there anything else that you’re hoping for, or planning to buy for someone you love? Share your ideas in the comments!
