Ok… so you may have heard around here that, much to my surprise, LeFou’s Brew inches its way closer and closer to dethroning the ever-popular Dole Whip as my favorite Magic Kingdom snack each time I have one. The For the Love of Disney Facebook Page had a Snack Showdown recently, and many of you said rather decidedly that it was your favorite. It may not look or sound like much, but more and more people are discovering the truth – this tasty treat (and Red’s Apple Freeze in Disney California Adventure park) is to die for.
Guess what?
It’s also ridiculously easy to make at home. Like, so easy I’m almost embarrassed to write a post about it. (Don’t worry, that isn’t stopping me.)
Dump the following into your blender: both cans of juice concentrate, 1 can (12 ounces) of cold water, 3 tablespoons of marshmallow syrup. We also add 1-1.5 cups of crushed ice to make the consistency that of the parks’, but if your blender won’t blend that easily to a smooth consistency, it’s just as delicious without.
Pulse a few times (or use the “smoothie”, or “ice crush” feature if you have one – have I mentioned we ADORE our rated-the-same-as-Vitamix-for-far-less-money* blender?) and voila! The delicious part of LeFou’s Brew.
Now. If you’re one of those people who is into the “foam topping” trend, you’ll notice I’ve left out the Mango Passionfruit foam. We are not fans. The flavor is good, it’s just that the foam on teas, frozen drinks, etc is just so…. well, not for me. I did try to do a little research for you though, and found a fascinating read that probably isn’t helpful unless you just want to read something geeky about food science. In reality though, I think you could adapt a recipe like this one for a mango/passionfruit flavored whipped topping by substituting the juice? I’d love to know if you try it! And gosh, now that I’ve found that, I do like whipped topping… so maybe I’ll make my own update! 🙂
Did you try this at home? With or without foam topping? Leave your thoughts in the comments!
*Disclaimer: Breville doesn’t know I exist, though that would be great. They didn’t ask me to point out our fabulous blender, it’s just awesome and since I did a ton of research on it and even got subscription access to Cook’s Illustrated Magazine for their reviews and recommendations, I thought I’d share. The End.

Nice! I haven’t tried the Reds Apple Freeze because I assumed it was made with corn syrup … nice to know I can make my own at home!
