Welcome to this month’s Magical Blogorail Green loop. Today we are discussing the best Disney resort pools.
We absolutely love experiencing all of the resorts on Walt Disney World property, and one of the (many) things every single resort does well is the themed swimming pools.
Some of our favorite pools are at Animal Kingdom Lodge, Art of Animation, and Caribbean Beach… but if you ask any member of my family where to find the best pool in all of Walt Disney World, five out of five of us would quickly answer the same – Stormalong Bay!
Open only to guests at the Yacht Club, Beach Club, and Beach Club Villas, this is one pool that absolutely checks magic bands at the door. If you’re staying at one of those properties though, be prepared for your kids (and grown-ups alike) to want to leave the parks early some days!
Stormalong Bay has not only a soft and fun sand bottom, but an actual “sandbar” area in which to play and build sand creations. Sometimes, my kiddos don’t want to leave this area! They should though, and we are sure to remind them what else waits for them throughout the pool.

There is a lazy river, and at the time of this post, flotation tubes are free for use on a first-come, first-served basis; we usually have no trouble getting one waiting just a minute or two.
If you’re just looking for a “regular” swimming pool while you’re there, Stormalong Bay has a few options for you.
Across the walkway toward Crescent Lake you’ll find water slides for kids of all ages. Bigger kids can climb the pirate ship to take on the largest of multiple slides, while just at the back of the ship is a smaller slide for your medium-sized kiddos 🙂

After an exhausting afternoon swimming (or night, if that’s your jam… the pools are all heated, after all!), you can relax in multiple spas or grab a snack at the counter service dining location, Hurricane Hanna’s.

What is YOUR favorite park on Walt Disney World or Disneyland property? It’s hard to choose, isn’t it?!

Such an amazing pool! I love it so much. The slide is super fun and the sand bottom gives you the best of both worlds. As today is hitting 90 in New York, I so wish I was hanging out at Stormalong Bay instead of heading to work!

Oh, I totally understand! Our week is mid-90s as well and our pool is quite boring in comparison! 🙂

My family loved Stormalong Bay. My 20 month old couldn’t get enough of digging in the sand and the “baby” slide, and my daring six year old was all about the big slide!

My kids adored the slides, too!

One of these days we will get to stay at Yacht & Beach so we can take advantage of Stormalong Bay! We usually plan our trips relatively last minute and it is never available with our DVC points. My husband still talks about his stay here when he was a teen, and all because of the pool!

If we can get a DVC room on our arrival night at Beach Club we make heading to Stormalong Bay our first stop. It is a great place to pass the time until your room is ready.

Oh my goodness! I think Yacht Club and Beach Club have just jumped to the top of my wish list. Those pools look amazing!!!

Storm Along Bay is great… The lazy river is incredible, it’s over 7 feet deep in some places! A little intimidating to some little ones, glad they have life jackets near by, and at no cost! Thinks of the lazy river now….
