Welcome to this month’s Blogorail Orange Loop. Today we are sharing some of the best live entertainment at the Disney Parks. Yehaa Bob, one of the most entertaining live acts at Walt Disney World, is absolutely worth a special trip to the Port Orleans Riversiyeehde resort on your next WDW visit!
Since our first trip together in 2004, my husband and I have spent at least 300 days at Walt Disney World; that averages out to three weeks a year, though some years that total is even higher. We took several trips before we had kids, and have taken several grown-ups only trips without them since.
It’s safe to say, then, that some people don’t understand why we go back so frequently. We’ve discussed before how much there is to do at the Walt Disney World resort, and how long it would take to truly experience everything on property (hint: it’s close to forever).
One of our absolute favorite things to do in the evenings (when we aren’t in a park) is also one of the resort’s best kept secrets. Tucked away in a small lounge in the Port Orleans Riverside resort, you’ll find a one-of-a-kind entertainer named Yehaa Bob playing most nights of the week.
I’ll admit – one look at Bob and it seems maybe his show would be geared toward kids, or would be too silly for some of you. After all, he pulls off red suspenders and bright yellow shoes in a way that doesn’t exactly scream “serious entertainment”. If you don’t give Bob a shot though, you only hurting yourself. (In which case, thank you for freeing up a seat for us!)
Bob Jackson has been working for the Walt Disney Company for 20 years, and was awarded the coveted Disney Legacy Award in 2013. A graduate from the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music (Go Bearcats!), Bob has played at Casey’s Corner, in the Tarzan Rocks show, and numerous other places throughout the Walt Disney World Resort – and around the world! John Lassetter, Chief Creative Officer at Pixar, is on record multiple times stating that a Yehaa Bob show is one of his favorite ways to spend an evening when visiting Walt Disney World.
Bob Jackson has never met a stranger… and once he meets you once, you may find he remembers you every time you visit!
Yehaa Bob’s show at River Roost Lounge is non-stop fun. He has some serious piano skills, and while you’ll find a few incredible classic pieces sprinkled in throughout the night (have you ever seen anyone play Nikolai Rimsky- Korsakov’s “Flight of the Bumblebee” on a piano that is literally rocking?), for the most part it’s nonstop goofiness and family-friendly comedy. Bob leads singalongs, mingles with the crowd between sets, and uses some of their names and stories in his show, as he plays originals, rock classics, and Disney favorites – all with a healthy dose of adult-oriented jokes mixed in*.
*”Adult-oriented” jokes may suggest something different than what you’ll hear from Bob. You know the kind I’m talking about though, those jokes Pixar lands brilliantly, catering to the adults who are watching Pixar films with their kids. It’s all on-brand and highly entertaining, while remaining family-friendly.
One of the things Bob does best is bring audience members into the fold quickly. With recurring bits throughout the night (such as asking, “How’s my hair?”, of which he has none, and eliciting a specific audience response), it takes only a few minutes for folks to feel like insiders.
His show, which you can catch at River Roost Lounge most Wednesday-Saturday nights, lasts about 1.5-2 hours. Like any “live music in a bar” sort of gig, you can come and go as you please. Just don’t expect to go very quickly; once Bob gets going, you won’t want to leave!
If you want to check out an entire Yehaa Bob show, my friend (and fellow Blogorail Pilot) Sam has you covered. Check out this episode of Sam’s Disney Diary!

I just recently watched a video of his and was on the fence. I think seeing him live would give a better impression? Have to check him out!

I do think that the video can only do so much. Part of the fun is definitely the environment around you, in conjunction with Bob!

Great post, thanks for sharing! I’ve got to admit that I’ve never seen him at Riverside but may have seen him at Casey’s Corner playing the piano there!

I do find that the Casey’s pianists are usually super entertaining, no matter who it is! ?
Rolling with the Magic
I still haven’t been to see him perform. It’s always on our list but we never seem to make it. We need to change that!

You know, I heard about him for years and just assumed he wouldn’t *really* be worth giving up an evening, getting to Port Orleans, etc. I was wrong 🙂

Yehaa Bob is absolutely amazing. We stumbled across his show four years ago when we stayed at Riverside. Last year when we returned we stayed at Caribbean Beach but getting back over to see him was one of our top priorities. Can’t wait to see him again in 2019 when we get back!
Even if the show wasn’t free, he would definitely be worth paying to see! (But please don’t get any ideas, Disney.)

I agree, we’d pay to see him too… thankfully Disney brass doesn’t stop by here all that often, as far as I know! 🙂 Always such a fun night.
